DETAILS | SNEAKERS O’CLOCK| Detail No.10
Dearest readers,
What time is it?— It’s Sneakers O’Clock, Yay.
Sneakers are more than a lifestyle. They’ve become a culture—one of consumption that is currently defining our generation. Whether it’s stumbling into a pair of custom Jordans on our Instagram feed or watching current fashion icons sporting the latest Supreme x Nike collaboration, we’ve developed such an infatuation with sporty footwear to the point that it has become part of our social news cycle.
Whether it is a lazy day, you are out completing chores, or you are heading out with friends, the most reliable pair of shoes you can get your feet into would be sneakers. Apart from been comfortable, sneakers are considered as been the “friendly shoes.” Moreover, most people on the streets are often sporting this type of footwear as well. The reason why sneakers are so loved is that they are available in different styles and forms, and are trendy, comfortable, and affordable.

I've learned to value comfort over everything, and there's no shoe style that fits that bill like a good sneaker.
Not only that, but sneakers lend the perfect street style edge that I value in my personal style. Whether I'm pairing them with mom jeans or a midi dress, sneakers are the most versatile item in my entire closet. I'd consider myself somewhat of a sneaker expert, so you can trust me when I say you should own one.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, your sneakers are meant for more than just the gym these days. Though they got their start as flimsy ‘plimsolls’ meant for working-class holidaymakers and purpose-built footwear designed for athletes, sneakers have become a staple in both male and females
wardrobe. From lifestyle to the red carpet to sports, nowadays your sneakers can be an expression of yourself. And today I’m showing you how to do it right.

Sneakers come in many shapes and sizes these days.
Basic Sneakers
These are your Converse, Vans, etc.,. Sometimes they come in leather, but they’re typically found in canvas and in basic colours. On the whole they’re generally affordable, easy to wear or clean, and work well with just about anything.

Sport Street Sneakers Sneakerheads gather around. These babies— Air Jordan, 95, kicked off the sporty sneakers. The trend is classy and it comes in different splash of colours.

Designer Sneakers Expensive and not for the faint of heart, these top-end sneakers are getting louder and more in-your-face every season. For an example of someone who wears them well consistently, look to Kanye West.

Refined Luxury Sneakers
They might bear a resemblance to your basic plimsolls, but they’re more expensive and often made from suede or leather by brands like Tom Ford, Lanvin & Saint Laurent.

Vital Sneaker Rules
No matter what kind of sneakers you settle on, there are a few basic principles for how to wear sneakers.
Always:
Buy sneakers that suit your current wardrobe: What good does it do to buy the latest ‘hype’ style if it doesn’t suit your style? Don’t hop on the trend train just because it’s passing through. Choose shoes that complement what you already have, not shoes that require you to repurchase your entire wardrobe. I’m looking at you, Detail lovers.
Wear them to the right occasions (don’t go too casual): Sneakers are incredibly versatile, but they’re no substitute for dress shoes. You can get away with sneakers with any off-duty outfit – and perhaps even some casual, unstructured suits – but they’re not meant for every occasion( e.g interview). Err on the side of overdressed rather than underdressed.
Keep them clean: It doesn’t matter how cool your sneakers are, the effect will be lost if they’re not spick-and-span. Proper sneaker maintenance includes washing the laces, eliminating odours, brushing the outsoles, and using shoe racks and sneaker shields.
