Day 11 of 30 FASHION CODES IN 30 DAYS

ree

For Day 11 of 30 Fashion Codes in 30 Days, we’re still in the office but today, there’s no big business conference or meeting, it’s just your average day grinding it out 9-to-5. However, that doesn’t mean your work wardrobe has to suffer.

ree

In calling this fashion code essential for “typical workday” it’s important to point out that “typical” and “shallow” are completely two different words. Clothes are a very important part of our image. Let’s have a little enthusiasm for our everyday workwear—it’s possible. These are the most basic rules that will help you to avoid shallow errors for your typical 9-5 outfits.

LADIES

1.When you are wear a shirt or a blouse, don’t unbutton more than 2 buttons.

ree

2.Your office shirt cleavage should not be deeper than 4" from your collarbone.

ree

3. An office blouse without sleeves should cover your shoulders. "Spaghetti" straps are not okay in formal situations.

ree

4. Don't wear too many prints. You can wear 2 different prints of the same colour or 2 coordinating prints of different sizes.

ree

5. Wear earrings that match your bracelet and a necklace that goes well with your ring. You’re not lord of the rings, 3 or 4 things in one look is too much.

ree

6. Keep your bags clean and well arranged.

It would be embarrassing to see your personal things falling off from your purse or bag. Your bag should look clean inside and outside, it will make you look smart and well-coordinated. Your bag is not a junkyard.

ree

7. DO your makeup minimally.

Makeup is a funny thing, do it right, and it's like framing a canvas. Do it wrong, and people will wonder why you left "Clown School" off your CV. Makeup should be neutral and natural. Stand out for what you say, NOT your dramatic liquid mascara. If make up is not your forte, do natural please!😂 No pressure.

ree

8. Never wear your hair wet to the office. Why should you wear wet hair when it is not even raining? Dry hair makes you look neatly dressed and sharp. Blow dry wet hairs before going to the office. If you’re on wigs, ensure it’s clean and proper. Don’t wear tangled wigs.

ree

9. Don’t wear skirts that are too short. When you get to bend over, short skirts tend to expose your body. Go for a longer skirt or just stick to pants!

ree

10. Stay away from heels that are not comfortable to walk in. This should be ringing in your heads already. If your heels are slowing you down, or giving you a headache, stay away from them. Wear heels that you can comfortably walk in and carry out your activities with ease. If heels ain’t your friend, do flats.

ree

GENTS

1.The middle button on a jacket should always be closed. The upper one depends on your mood. The lower one should never be closed.

ree

2. Never wear sports gear.

Even if you’re a dedicated football fan like I am or perhaps you’re a loyal patriot (little voiceover: you deserve an award, lol), it’s best not to wear your team’s shirt to work. Opt instead for shirts with a collar, preferably without any loud print. This common sense is very common.

3.Your belt should be the same colour as your shoes.

ree

4. All visible tags on clothes should be cut off. No one cares about the tag!

ree

5.The tip of your tie should reach your waist and cross it just a little.

ree

6. Your socks should be long enough that your naked legs aren't seen when you are sitting.

ree

7. Do Not Match Pocket Squares and Ties.

That’s right. A pocket square is meant to complement your tie, not match it. Find something with a similar colour scheme as your tie but never actually wear a pocket square that has the same material and pattern as your tie. If your tie has small black and red checkers, do not have a pocket square with small black and red checkers. The only exception is when you are dressed formally in a monochrome tie or bow tie, a plain silk pocket square of that colour may be spotted with it.

ree

8. Wear Ties Darker than Your Shirt.

This one is simple. If you have a dark blue shirt, do not wear a yellow pastel tie with it. The darker and bolder colours take the emphasis of the outfit and the tie should be the focal point. If you wear a shirt that is darker than your tie, you defeat the whole purpose of wearing a tie in the first place.

So friends, what do you think of these typical workwear errors that must be avoided. Do you have any other tips or secrets to share?
